Update on Incident at 7396 Schuller
December 15, 2006 -- Charges
have been filed against a suspect wanted in the beating death
of a child following an incident at 7396 Schuller about 5:30 p.m.
on December 4.
The suspect, Dennis
Antoine Andrus (b/m, DOB 5-30-83), of 7396 Schuller, is charged
with capital murder in the 339th State District Court. He is accused
in the killing of his daughter, India Burnett, 16 months old,
who suffered skull fractures. A photo of suspect Andrus is attached
to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.C. Padilla and
Officer S. Straughter reported:
Baby India was first hospitalized on December
4 at Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital for unknown reasons. She
was then transferred to Ben Taub General Hospital, where she was
pronounced dead on December 8. An autopsy performed by the Harris
County Medical Examiner's office revealed India died of blunt
trauma to the head. A subsequent investigation led to charges
being filed against her father.
