Update on Incident at 11660 Fuqua
August 24, 2006 -- Charges have
been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of
a convenience store clerk at 11660 Fuqua about 4:15 p.m. on August
21.
The suspect, identified as Stevdrick Jackson
(b/m, DOB 4-10-81) of Rolling Fork, Mississippi, is charged with
capital murder in the 263rd State District Court. He is accused
in the killing of Hassan Tanvir Alam, 24, who suffered gunshot
wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N. Ruland and
Officer M. Khan reported:
Customers entering the Gulf Palms Valero service
station discovered Mr. Alam behind the counter. He had been shot
twice during an apparent robbery.
Witnesses described a suspicious person seen
outside the store as possibly being a black male, 6 feet to 6
feet 2 inches tall, 180 to 200 pounds, with a small mustache and
faded haircut. The male was with a Hispanic female and possibly
driving in an older model, black Cadillac with Mississippi license
plates. Investigators were seeking to speak with those two individuals.
While following up the lead on the suspicious
vehicle, investigators were alerted the same suspect had committed
a robbery and stole someone's vehicle. The suspect was arrested
by officers in Nueces County and was then interviewed by HPD homicide
investigators. The female seen with Jackson was also interviewed
and is being treated as a witness in this case at this time.
