Incident at 16114 Beck Ridge Drive
August 12, 2006 -- Charges of
murder are pending against a suspect arrested in the shooting
of a man at 16114 Beck Ridge Drive about 1:55 a.m. today (August
12).
The suspect is identified as Jeremaine L. Walker
(b/m, DOB 4/26/85).
The deceased victim is identified as Raymond
Spivey, 21, of 3200 Jorns. He sustained a gunshot wound to the
abdomen. Victim #2 is identified as Rodney Kelley, 26, also of
3200 Jorns. He sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. Both victims
were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where Mr. Spivey
was pronounced dead. Mr. Kelley is being treated for non life-threatening
injuries.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant E. Gonzalez and
Officer R.W. Chappell reported:
According to witnesses, Walker returned home
and found Mr. Spivey and Mr. Kelley visiting a relative. Believing
it was too late for a visit, Walker instructed the men to leave.
An argument and physical altercation ensued. During the struggle,
Walker retrieved a gun and shot both victims. Walker initially
fled the scene on foot, however, he later turned himself into
police and provided a statement regarding the incident. Although
the shooting occurred in the City of Houston, it falls within
the jurisdiction of Fort Bend County. Walker was processed and
booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.
