Incident at 8600 W. Bellfort

August 3, 2006 -- Houston Police homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a male at 8600 W. Bellfort on August 3, 2006.

Homicide investigators M. Scott and R. Moreno reported:

On August 3, 2006, at approximately 11:15 p.m., patrol units responded to a shooting call at 8600 W. Bellfort. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, whose identity is unknown, dead in the parking lot from multiple gunshot wounds.

The investigation has revealed the victim was involved in a disturbance with a Hispanic male in the drive-through line of a nearby fast-food restaurant. The deceased victim either attempted to rob or panhandle this Hispanic male. Restaurant employees observed the Hispanic male push the victim away and drive off in an unknown direction.

The deceased victim was seen walking away after the confrontation but was then
found dead in the same parking lot approximately 30 minutes later.

The suspect's vehicle is a gray or silver SUV with a Suburban body style.
