Incident at 9422 North Freeway

April 30, 2006 -- The fatal shooting of a burglary of a motor vehicle suspect at 9422 North Freeway about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday (Apr. 29) will be referred to a Harris
County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased suspect is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office. The vehicle owner, Alfonso Villalobes, was not injured.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Scott and Officer C. Scales reported:

Alfonso Villalobes left his vehicle in a business parking lot at 9422 North Freeway overnight and returned to find the vehicle being burglarized by two suspects. Villalobes shot at the fleeing suspects and was unsure if he had hit anyone. Approximately one hour later, a wounded suspect was discovered on the opposite side of the freeway and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died.
