Incident at 5600 Pershing
April 29, 2006 -- Houston police
are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 5600 Pershing
about 6:25 p.m. on Friday (Apr. 28).
The identity of the victim is pending verification
by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office. He suffered a
gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to Ben Taub General
Hospital were he later died.

A. Mares reported:
The victim was talking several people when the
suspect drove up in a green, four-door Buick or Pontiac vehicle
and began demanding money, which he claimed the victim owed him.
The two men argued for approximately 15 minutes and the suspect
re-entered his vehicle while holding what appeared to be a large
caliber handgun. The suspect then ordered the victim to leave
the area and fired two shots as the victim fled. The victim collapsed
after being shot near 5606 Pershing. The suspect fled in a four-door,
green Buick or Pontiac vehicle closely followed by a brown 2000
Ford Taurus. The driver of the Ford is believed to be an associate
of the suspect. Investigators believe 10 bystanders may have witnessed
the shooting.
