Traffic Incident at 8800 Westheimer
April 22, 2006 -- Houston police
are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 8800 Westheimer
about 1:55 a.m. today (Apr. 22).
The identities of the deceased male, in his 20s,
and the seriously injured driver, also in his 20s, are pending
verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office and/or
notification to the next of kin.

D.S. Runyan and Officer M.E. Wick reported:
Witnesses stated that the victims' vehicle was
traveling westbound on Westheimer at a high rate of speed when
the driver lost control of his vehicle and collided with a light
pole. The force of the collision split the vehicle in half, killing
the passenger and caused the driver to be ejected. The driver
was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious condition.
It appears no other vehicles were involved.
The investigation is continuing.
