HPD Seeks Public's Assistance In Missing Child
Case
April 10, 2006 -- On April 7,
2006, at approximately 11:20 a.m., Roderick
Terrell Fountain called the Houston Police Department to report
his three-year-old son, Kendrick
Jackson, had wandered away from home at 9:30 that morning
and had not been located. Patrol officers responded to the call
and a search began. Officers from the Juvenile Division's Missing
Persons Unit also responded to the scene and later that day investigators
from the Homicide Division were called as well. Agents from the
local office of the FBI joined in the investigation to provide
technical assistance.
During the next two days, numerous volunteers
searched the immediate area for Kendrick and multiple teams of
investigators tried to verify any leads. As is customary for this
type of investigation, family members and friends were questioned
at length for any information about Kendrick's disappearance.
On April 9, 2006, Roderick Fountain (b/m, DOB
10-4-74) was arrested on a warrant for the misdemeanor offense
of filing a false report. This was based on several instances
of Mr. Fountain trying to deliberately mislead investigators and
urging others to do so during this investigation. Kendrick Jackson
is still missing. His family and investigators remain very concerned
about his welfare.
It is unknown where Fountain was between the
hours of 2:30 a.m. and 5:50 a.m. Friday. It is believed he was
driving a Champagne colored Lexus automobile during that time
period, and Kendrick may have been with him. Anyone who may have
seen this automobile during this time period is urged to call
investigators.
During the next several days investigators and
volunteers will begin to search an area on the eastside of Harris
County along the I-10 corridor between Houston and Baytown. This
is a very large search area and residents and business owners
are urged to check their properties for any signs of Kendrick.
There is no confirmed information that Kendrick is within the
confines of this search area.
Anyone with information regarding the disappearance
of Kendrick Jackson is urged to contact the Houston Police Department
Homicide Division at 713 308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713 222-TIPS.
