Incident at 500 Gazin
September 26, 2005 -- A 54-year-old
man was wounded when he was shot in an apparent drive-by shooting
that occurred in the 500 block of Gazin on Sunday, September 25,
2005 around 10:35 p.m.
Houston Police Department Homicide Division Sergeants
C.W. Howard, M.W. McStravick and Officer P.T. Yochum reported
that Raul Ortiz was standing in front of his neighbor's house
at 532 Gazin when a white or gray four door Buick drove up.
Witnesses told investigators that there were
four men, described only as Hispanic males, in the car as it drove
by. One of those males leaned out of the window and shot Ortiz
with an assault-type rifle. While fleeing the scene, the Buick
struck a parked truck. The occupant continued shooting at Ortiz
as they drove northbound on Gazin.
Mr. Ortiz was transported and treated at Ben
Taub General Hospital. He suffered non-fatal injuries.
The car used in the shooting is believed to have
extensive front-end damage. Anyone with information about this
