Traffic Incident at 22500 Eastex Freeway
September 17, 2005 -- Houston
police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 22500 Eastex
Freeway about 6 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 16).
The identity of the deceased victim is pending
verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

H.M. Garcia and Officer D. Ertons reported:
The driver of a black Honda traveling southbound
on the Eastex Freeway swerved to avoid an obstruction in the roadway
(a wheelbarrow) and lost control of the vehicle. The Honda was
struck by an 18-wheeler causing it to strike another vehicle,
a Ford Escort. A passenger in the rear seat of the Honda was pronounced
dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda was transported via
Life Flight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious
condition. Another passenger in the Honda and the driver of the
Ford Escort were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.
The investigation is continuing.
