Update on Incident at 6240 Antoine

October 12, 2005 -- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a baby girl transported to a hospital from her home at 6240 Antoine about 3 a.m. on September 8.

The suspect, L.C. Fontenot Jr. (b/m, DOB 4/28/84), has been charged with injury to a child in the 177th State District Court. Fontenot was arrested without incident on Thursday (Oct. 11).

The victim is identified as Gi'Auna McCullough, 14 months old, who suffered blunt force trauma to her head.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Carrillo and Officer H. Chavez reported:

Baby Gi'Auna was taken to Texas Children's Hospital for medical treatment on Sept. 8. She had been crying on and off for a couple of hours before she was taken to the hospital, and was not responding in her normal manner. The baby was examined at the hospital and was found to have blunt trauma to her head. She died at the hospital two days later (Sept. 10).
