block of the Eastex Freeway (59 North) about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday
(Nov. 1).

pending notification to family members.
HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant
R.A. Gonzales and Officers J. Tippy and R. Breiding reported:
The driver of an 18-wheeler was northbound on
the Eastex Freeway when he saw an accident ahead on the shoulder
of the freeway. For unknown reasons, the driver of the 18-wheeler
locked up his brakes. That action caused the tractor-trailer to
jackknife and swerve onto the shoulder of the freeway where the
victim's vehicle was parked. The victim, the driver of the vehicle,
was killed when the sliding truck struck his vehicle.
Following completion of this investigation, the
case will be presented to the Harris County District Attorney's
office for possible charges against the truck driver.
