Incident at 8600 South Course
May 25, 2005 -- Houston police
are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 8600 South Course
about 12:45 a.m. today (May 25).
The deceased victim has been identified as Samuel
Bonilla, 21, of 3026 Roe. He suffered a gunshot wound to the upper
right chest and was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest
Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. W. Howard and
Officer P. T. Yochum reported:
Mr. Bonilla, his wife and brother arrived at
the apartment complex at 8600 South Course and were waiting outside
of the security gate because they had forgotten their gate access
card. Their intent was to wait until another vehicle, with an
access card, arrived and follow that vehicle into the complex.
According to witnesses, a newer model gray four-door
vehicle with dark tinted windows pulled into the driveway of the
complex. Bonilla approached the vehicle and asked the occupants
if they had a gate access card and if they were planning to enter
the complex. The suspect exited his vehicle and grabbed a shotgun.
After a brief struggle over the weapon, the suspect shot Bonilla
in the chest. The suspect fled the scene in the gray vehicle.
