Update on Incident at 6902 Bellfort

May 13, 2005 -- A suspect has been arrested and charged in the death of a man found at 6902 Bellfort on Tuesday, May 10, 2005, about 5:30 a.m.

The suspect, Christopher Ray Mallet (b/m DOB: 11-1-76), has been charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court.

The victim has been identified as David Lester Jones, 45. Jones was homeless at the time of his death. A motive for the shooting is still not known.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Scott and Officer C. Scales reported:

An on-duty HPD officer patrolling the 6900 block of Bellfort observed what appeared to be a person leaning against a building at 6902 Bellfort. The officer stopped to investigate and found the victim had been shot multiple times. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead.
