Incident at 6200 Laura Koppe
June 25, 2005 -- Houston police
are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6200 Laura Koppe
about 4:30 a.m. today (June 25).
The identity of the deceased male is pending
notification to next of kin and an autopsy by the Harris County
Medical Examiner's office. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds
to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Officers T. J. McCorvey
and R. P. Martinez reported:
The victim and a witness exited an after-hours
club located at 6200 Laura Koppe and entered the victim's personal
vehicle when an unknown black male suspect approached that vehicle
and knocked on the driver's side window. According to the witness,
the victim ignored the suspect and placed his vehicle in reverse
and started backing up when the suspect started firing a semiautomatic
weapon into the driver's door and window. The victim's vehicle
continued to travel in reverse for one hundred yards before coming
to rest in a ditch along the north side of the street.
The witness stated the suspect continued to fire
at the victim from the inside of a dark colored four-door sedan
as the victim's vehicle traveled out of control down the street.
The suspect fled the scene in the dark colored vehicle.
