Update on Incident at 8600 South Course
June 8, 2005 -- A suspect has
been charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 8600 South Course
about 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2005.
The suspect, Carlos Aldair Leiba Fugon (H/m DOB:
1-9-79), has been arrested and charged with murder in the 337th
State District Court. Samuel Bonilla, 21, of 3026 Roe suffered
a gunshot wound to the upper right chest and was transported to
Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. W. Howard and
Officers P. T. Yochum and J. Selvera reported:
Mr. Bonilla, his wife and brother arrived at
the apartment complex at 8600 South Course and were waiting outside
of the security gate because they had forgotten their gate access
card. Their intent was to wait until another vehicle, with an
access card, arrived and follow that vehicle into the complex.
According to witnesses, a newer model gray four-door
vehicle with dark tinted windows pulled into the driveway of the
complex. Bonilla approached the vehicle and asked the occupants
if they had a gate access card and if they were planning to enter
the complex. Fugon got out of the vehicle and grabbed a shotgun.
After a brief struggle over the weapon, Fugon shot Bonilla in
the chest and fled the scene in the gray vehicle.
