Second Update on Incident at 11715 South Glen
July 26, 2005 -- Charges have
been upgraded against a suspect who fatally shot a child at 11715
South Glen about 8:45 p.m. last Saturday (July 23).
The suspect, Amin Shehzad Hussein (w/m, DOB 8-31-60),
was initially charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
and injury to a child in the 339th State District Court. The wounded
two-year-old girl, identified as Ny'Oshea Harris, was shot in
the neck and later died from her injuries. Following her death
at an area hospital, the injury to a child charge against Hussein
was upgraded to capital murder.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant L. Baimbridge
and Officer N. Ruland reported:
Several juveniles were playing football in the
courtyard of the apartment complex. During the game, a football
accidentally broke Hussein's window. He came outside and confronted
the group of juveniles. Hussein pulled a pistol from his pocket
and raised it towards two of the juveniles. The juveniles ran
away from Hussein and he fired one shot, striking Ny'Oshea, who
was being held by a third juvenile.
