Traffic Incident at 3000 Southwest Freeway

July 12, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the death of a pedestrian struck while crossing the 3000 block of the Southwest Freeway at about 5:50 a.m. today
(July 12).

The victim's identity is unknown at this time.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. R. Hurd and Officer M. W. Gartman reported:

The victim attempted to cross the outbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway when he ran into the side of a truck driven by Rafael Rodriguez. Rodriguez immediately pulled over and remained at the scene for emergency personnel to arrive. The initial investigation indicates the victim failed to yield right of way to the vehicle.
