Incident at 6200 McKinstry Boulevard
January 30, 2005 -- Charges
have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting
of a man at 6200 McKinstry Boulevard on Saturday, January 29,
2005, about 9:00 p.m.
The suspect, Reginald Lee Johnson (b/m DOB: 7-31-81),
is charged with murder
in the 262nd State District Court. He is not in custody.
The victim has been identified as Justin Cage,
18, of 6310 Darlinghurst. He
suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the
scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. K. Peters and
Officer A. J. Palos reported:
Cage and Johnson were meeting to discuss the
ownership of a piece of jewelry
Cage had possession of, but Johnson claimed ownership of. Cage
and two
witnesses were at the location when Johnson arrived and came toward
them with
a pistol. A witness attempted to block Cage; however, Johnson
shot Cage and
then ran off.
The witness called 9-1-1 and was in the street
with Cage when Johnson
returned. Fearing for their lives, the two witnesses ran. As they
were
running, they observed Johnson shoot Cage again.
