January 28, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the shooting death of a man at 12011 Bissonnet about 2:55 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2005.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. D. Newcomb and Officer T. Huynh reported:

The victim, Ricardo A. Steele, 38, was confronted by the suspect while he was
in the barbershop. The suspect, who is not being identified pending
notification of kin, produced a gun and a struggle ensued over the weapon.
During the struggle, Steele was shot in the arm, causing a superficial wound.
The gun discharged a second time during the struggle, striking the suspect in
the head. The suspect was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he
later died. This case will be referred to the Harris County grand jury.
