Traffic Incident at 1400 West Sam Houston Parkway
South
February 7, 2005 -- Houston
police are investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred
at 1400 West Sam Houston Parkway South on Sunday, February 6,
2005 about 7:40 p.m.
HPD Traffic Division Investigator R. Kessler
reported:
A white Nissan was stopped at a red light on
the service road. An International commercial flatbed truck was
stopped behind the Nissan. A gold four door Chevrolet Impala was
in the same lane approaching the intersection when the vehicle
was struck from behind by a black Chevrolet Lumina. According
to the investigator, it appears the Lumina was traveling at such
a high rate of speed that it pushed the Impala under the rear
of the truck. All four occupants of the Impala were pronounced
dead at the scene. The driver of the Lumina had multiple injuries
and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital. The names of
the victims are pending identification from the Medical Examiner's
Office.
