Update on Incident at 90 Northpoint Drive

December 5, 2005 -- The fatal shooting of a man and wounding of another at 90 Northpoint Drive about 3:20 a.m. on November 27 will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

Investigators learned the deceased male was Robert Oliva Marcano, 24, of 700 West Greens Road. He was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. A second male, Cornelio Martinez Lopez, 31, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Carrillo and Officer H.A. Chavez reported:

Mr. Lopez was sitting in his truck listening to music in the parking lot of the apartment complex where he lives when the armed suspect, Marcano, approached and attempted to rob Lopez. A struggle ensued between the two men. During the struggle over the gun, Lopez suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen and groin area and Marcano was shot in the head. Evidence was presented to the Harris County District Attorney's office, which decided to present the case to a grand jury.
