Traffic Incident on Houston Avenue at Memorial Drive

August 30, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident on Houston Avenue at Memorial Drive on Monday (Aug. 29) about 7:25 p.m.

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant N. Nguyen and Officer R. Kessler reported:

The driver of a Nissan Sentra traveling north on Houston Avenue struck the driver of a Mercury Marquis traveling west on Memorial Drive. The Mercury Marquis was pushed into a pedestrian who was crossing the street on Memorial. The pedestrian was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. No charges have been filed at this time due to conflicting statements.

The investigation is continuing.
