August 29, 2005 -- A massive warrant round up aimed at arresting suspects wanted for child abuse, family violence and failure to register as sex offenders has yielded another 67 arrests.

Since the multi-agency initiative began, a total of 214 suspects have been taken into custody as part of the Houston Men Against Family Violence (HMAFV) campaign launched by Houston Police Chief Harold L. Hurtt.

Officers from HPD, the Harris County Sheriff's and Constables' Offices, and other area agencies have attempted to serve warrants on 297 offenders of the more than 300 individuals wanted in the HMAFV campaign round up.

The numbers break down as follows:

Of 214 suspects arrested thus far, 144 were taken into custody by HPD, Constables and other agencies. Sixty of those suspects were wanted on felonies. The other 70 suspects in custody were handled by the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Among those arrested was Sean James (b/m, DOB 2-17-81), who was charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child. James sexually abused a juvenile family member for several years before he was caught in the act. A second suspect, Nathaniel Robinson (b/m, DOB 10-01-83), turned himself in after the concentrated efforts of officers to arrest him. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and retaliation. Robinson struck a female companion in the head with a pistol after he became angry with her for calling police on him on prior occasions. He had prior convictions for domestic violence against the same victim. A third suspect, Shandrea Jackson (b/f DOB: 8-1-76), was taken into custody with the help of an HPD K-9 Unit after she ran from police. She was charged with injuring her child after throwing the two-year-old to the ground twice and demanding a family member
run over the child.
