Incident at 100 North Loop West
August 18, 2005 -- Houston police
are investigating the stabbing of an off-duty Brookshire police
officer at 100 North Loop West about 9:35 p.m. on Wednesday (Aug.
17).
Officer Roland Morales of the Brookshire Police
Department suffered two stab wounds to his torso and was transported
to Memorial Hermann Hospital in good condition.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M.K. Peters and
Officer A.J. Palos reported:
Officer Morales was off-duty and in his personal
vehicle in the 100 block of the North Loop West service road when
one of the vehicle's tires began to go flat. He pulled off the
road and began to repair it. As the officer was working on the
vehicle, two Hispanic males wearing bandanas over their faces
approached him from behind. One of the males stabbed the officer
twice.
The suspects then demanded the officer's wallet
and threatened to stab him again if he did not produce it. The
officer tossed his wallet to the side. As the suspects began to
leave, Officer Morales retrieved his weapon and began to pursue
the two suspects on foot. During the pursuit, the officer fired
his weapon at the suspects, who were able to get to their vehicle
and evade the officer. It is not known if either suspect was injured.
Both suspects were wearing white T-shirts and dark pants. Their
vehicle was described as a newer model, dark colored, four-door
compact.
