Incident at 2100 Tannehill Drive
August 16, 2005 -- Charges have
been filed against a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a man at
2100 Tannehill Drive about 12:45 a.m. today (Aug. 16).
The suspect, Abraham Ortega (H/m, 6-4-84), has
been arrested and charged with capital murder in the 179th State
District Court. The identity of the victim is pending notification
to the next of kin and an autopsy by the Harris County Medical
Examiner's office.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant L. A. Flores and
Officer P. Yochum reported:
The victim and Ortega got into a physical altercation.
At some point during the altercation, Ortega produced a knife
and stabbed the victim multiple times in the torso, neck and facial
area. Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim
dead. Ortega fled the scene in the victim's vehicle and was apprehended
a short time later after a brief chase in that vehicle.
The investigation is continuing.
