Update on Incident at 8501 Broadway
August 12, 2005 -- Charges have
been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a
man at 8501 Broadway about 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 10).
The suspect, identified as Teddy
Thomas James (b/m, DOB 7-7-85), is charged with murder in
the 232nd State District Court. James is accused in the killing
of Christopher Coleman, 25, who was shot multiple times and pronounced
dead at Ben Taub General Hospital. James is 5 feet 11 inches tall,
weighs about 150 pounds and has a tattoo on his chest.

The victim and James were involved in an ongoing
dispute. Witnesses said the victim and a friend were in the parking
lot of an apartment complex when James approached them from behind
and shouted the victim's name. James then produced a pistol and
began shooting the victim in the chest. The victim tried to run
but fell to the ground. James walked up to the victim and shot
him at least two more times.
