Update on Incident at 10000 Long Point
August 9, 2005 -- A suspect
has been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of a man at
10000 Long Point on January 3, 2005.
An investigation has led to the identity of the
suspect as Demarcus Lee Watson (b/m, DOB 12-30-81) of 20002 Foxhaven
Lane in Humble. Watson is charged with murder in the 176th State
District Court.
The victim, Jerrell Dante Deyon, 17, of 311 Harold
Lane in Baytown suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced
dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.
HPD Homicide Division Officers R. Moreno, R.P.
Martinez and T.J. McCorvey reported:
It appeared two different parties were involved
in a shootout on the parking lot of the Connections Club in the
10000 block of Long Point about 2:35 a.m. on January 3. The shooting
occurred several hundred feet east of the club. When officers
arrived, the victim was found lying on the ground.
At the time, it appeared the victim was an innocent
bystander attempting to flee the area when the shooting began.
Several witnesses were interviewed but could
not provide any information on who the suspect(s) might have been.
There was no indication of trouble inside the club prior to its
closing. The parking lot was crowded and full of bystanders when
the incident occurred.
Watson surrendered to authorities after learning
he had been charged on August 1.
