April 9, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at Schneider and E. Crosstimbers today (April 9) about 12:30 a.m.

The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Traffic Division Sergeant D. S. Runyan and Officer D. J. Gutierrez reported:

The female victim, driving a Pontiac Grand Prix, was traveling northbound on Schneider at E. Crosstimbers where she apparently ran a stop sign at the intersection. Her vehicle was struck on the left side by a pick-up truck traveling east on E. Crosstimbers. The female driver of the Pontiac was killed instantly. A male and a female in the victim's vehicle were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital. The male is listed in critical condition and the female's condition is undetermined at this time. The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured.

The investigation is continuing.
