Traffic Incident at 17000 Gulf Freeway

April 8, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 17000 Gulf Freeway on Wednesday (April 6) about 5:15 a.m.

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Traffic Division Sergeant D. R. Hurd and Officer M. W. Gartman reported:

A motorist was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound in the 17000 block of the Gulf Freeway struck a pedestrian who was walking on the freeway in a moving lane of traffic. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
