City of Houston Announces Plans to Host U.S. Navy Fleet Week in November

April 29, 2025 -- Mayor John Whitmire, joined by U.S. Navy Admiral Daryl Caudle, Commander of the U.S. Fleet Forces Command, recently announced that the City of Houston will host Navy Fleet Week later this year in the Port of Houston, in collaboration with Houston First Corporation, Discovery Green, and other partners.

Fleet Week Houston will take place November 5-12, 2025, and will be the first time any Texas city has hosted a Fleet Week.

Fleet Week is a partnership between the Navy and a host city that introduces communities to the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard while allowing visiting members of the U.S. Armed Forces to experience local culture and history. Fleet Week includes entertainment events, education opportunities, community service activities, and opportunities for local leaders to engage with Navy leadership.

"At least 1,000 sailors and Marines will 'flood the zone' around your great city," Admiral Caudle told Mayor Whitmire. "Our Navy looks forward to celebrating our 250th in Houston with you."

Houston will host three Navy vessels and over 1,000 sailors and Marines for a week-long celebration including hundreds of events and activities for Houstonians and visitors from around the state to enjoy.

"This is an honor for Houston. As mayor, I was proud to extend the invitation to Admiral Caudle and that he has accepted the offer to bring this great tradition to Houston. Fleet Week will build on the positive relationships between the military and the community and allow Houstonians and all other visitors to learn more about the U.S. Navy's proud history of courage and service to the country," said Mayor Whitmire.

Houston and the Navy share a special maritime connection. Billions of dollars worth of trade flow in and out of the Houston Ship Channel every day, and the Navy is responsible for protecting that seaborne trade as it travels across the oceans.

Fleet Week Houston will coincide with the City's Veteran's Day celebrations and serve as the closing event for the year-long celebrations of the Navy and Marine Corps' 250th anniversaries.

In addition to the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, delegations from other branches of service and guests from around the state are expected to join Houstonians in the festivities.
