City of Houston Partners with Apache Corporation to Plant 2,500 Trees for Earth Day HTX 2024
April 17, 2024 -- The City of Houston is celebrating Earth Day 2024 with a large-scale tree planting event. Apache Corporation has partnered with the City to make the event possible through a generous contribution.
Apache supports the City’s sustainability efforts through charitable donations for events such as the 2024 Tour de Houston bike ride, and this historic, first-ever, City of Houston Earth Day mass tree-planting event. City of Houston officials, Apache employees, and volunteers from Houston communities will be on hand to plant 2,500 trees on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Watonga Park to commemorate Earth Day.
The 2024 Earth Day HTX event is part of the Houston Parks and Recreation Department’s Riparian Restoration Initiative intended to enhance and restore forested areas within 70 parks along Houston’s waterways. To date, 25 restoration projects have been completed.

City administrators and officials, including Mayor John Whitmire and Houston City Council Members, will take part in the program along with Apache Corporation CEO John J.
